Biography:
Sunny H.K. Lo is Chairman of Café de Coral Holdings Limited, one of Hong Kong’s most established food and beverage groups. He joined the Group in 1982 and has held senior leadership roles for over four decades, including Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, before becoming Non-executive Chairman in 2016. He holds a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University.
 
Beyond corporate leadership, Sunny is a lifelong learner with a deep curiosity about technology, innovation and the people shaping the future. In recent years, he has become an active early-stage investor and serial entrepreneur, working alongside founders across different fields and learning from the energy, imagination and resilience of young ventures. Outside business, he is a passionate sailor who values the discipline, judgement and teamwork that sailing demands.
 
Abstract:
How does a business remain relevant for more than six decades? And what can an established company continue to learn from the next generation of entrepreneurs?
 
Drawing on his experience at Café de Coral Group, the speaker will reflect on why longevity depends not on preserving old answers, but on renewing talent, responding to changing needs and retaining the courage to innovate. Ten years ago, after stepping down as CEO and taking on the role of Non-Executive Chairman, he began a new chapter as an early-stage investor in technology ventures.
 
Through his engagement with entrepreneurs and startups across different fields, he has seen how much established businesses and young ventures can learn from one another. Startups bring curiosity, speed and a willingness to test new ideas. Established businesses offer perspective on trust, people development, operational discipline and the responsibility of building for the long term.
 
The session will explore the qualities that distinguish enduring entrepreneurs: a deep understanding of real problems, the humility to keep learning, resilient and complementary teams, integrity, and the ambition to build an enterprise that creates lasting value — not simply rapid growth.
