Abstract:
Hydrogen bonds belong to the most important non-covalent interactions and are perfectly suited to position a given substrate in a defined chiral environment. Our group has discovered and continues to explore enantio- and site-selective catalytic reactions based on hydrogen bonding. The talk will revolve around the use of chiral tricyclic lactams as tools in three different settings: (1) Catalytic enantioselective photochemical reactions via energy transfer,[1] (2) photochemical deracemization reactions,[2] and (3) C-H activation reactions mediated by transition metal complexes.[3]
