Prof. Xuechen Li was awarded the Rao Makineni Lectureship (2019) by American Peptide Society

Professor Xuechen Li recently was awarded the Rao Makineni Lectureship (2019) by American Peptide Society. The Makineni Lectureship recognizes an individual who has made a recent contribution of unusual merit to research in the field of peptide science. The major accomplishments in Prof. Li’s research program include the development of several original methods for protein/peptide synthesis and modification, including Ser/Thr ligation, P-B peptide desulfurization and phthalimidine protein bioconjugation.  Furthermore, his group has been working on the synthesis and medicinal chemistry studies of complex antibacterial cyclic peptides, with completion of the total synthesis of daptomycin and teixobactin.
