Iron-Nitrogen-Doped Hierarchical Porous Carbon for Various Electrochemical Application

Porous carbons have been widely utilized as gas adsorbent, water purification agent, supports for loading metal/metal oxide catalysts, electrode materials for electrochemical capacitors and batteries. It is well known that the presence of heteroatoms (O, N) containing surface functionality will enhance the specific capacitance of the carbon materials through pseudo-capacitive effect. The activity and durability of the iron-nitrogen-doped carbon catalysts for oxygen reduction reaction have been greatly improved and these catalysts have been regarded as potential competitors to Pt.
