26 Feb 2024Professor Vivian YAM will host the IUPAC Global Women’s Breakfast in Hong Kong in the morning of 27 February 2024, in conjunction with the UN Day of Women and Girls in Science. The theme of this year is “Catalyzing Diversity in Science”. To join in this great occasion, the Chinese Chemical Society is holding Women’s Breakfast Meetings across 7 cities in China on 27 February 2024, including Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi, Changchun, Lanzhou, and Hong Kong. 15 May 2023Professor Vivian YAM becomes the first Asian and Chinese recipient of the 2023-24 Bailar Medal by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for her contributions to the field of inorganic chemistry. Established in 1972, the Bailar Medal, named in honour of Professor John Christian Bailar, Jr., known as the father of American coordination chemistry and former faculty member at the University of Illinois, is a highly prestigious award that recognises outstanding contributions to inorganic chemistry research. For over half a century, this prestigious award has been presented to chemists who have made outstanding contributions to the fields of inorganic and coordination chemistry globally. 3 Dec 2021Professor Vivian YAM has been selected as one of the three prominent scientists who have made significant fundamental contributions in their respective fields of energy research in the inaugural “Pioneers in Energy Research” (PIERs) programme by Energy & Fuels of American Chemical Society (ACS) Publications. She is honored in the field of solar energy and conversion of light for her outstanding contribution to the area of novel excited states for organic light-emitting materials/devices and solar energy conversion. 24 Sep 2021Professor Vivian YAM receives 2022 American Chemical Society (ACS) National Award - the 2022 Josef Michl ACS Award in Photochemistry in recognition of her exceptional accomplishments in fundamental research in photochemistry. The award was made with citation for her contribution to inorganic/organometallic photochemistry through innovative design of chromophoric/luminescent metal complexes and their supramolecular assemblies for advancing OLED, sensing and solar energy research.
