HKU CHEMISTS DEVELOP NOVEL FLUORESCENT PROBE FOR MONITORING CELL ACTIVITIES TO ACHIEVE BREAKTHROUGH IN FUTURE DRUG DISCOVERY
After three years of efforts, Professor Sun Hongzhe of the Department of Chemistry and his team of researchers, together with his collaborators in the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Medicine, the University of Hong Kong, are the first to develop the novel fluorescent probe that can rapidly trace the tens of thousands of tagged proteins inside cells.

HKU MEDICAL CHEMISTS DISCOVER PEPTIC ULCER TREATMENT METALLODRUG EFFECTIVE IN “TAMING” SUPERBUGS
A research team led by Professor Sun Hongzhe of the Department of Chemistry and Dr Richard Kao Yi-Tsun of the Department of Microbiology, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine discovered an alternative strategy by repositioning colloidal bismuth subcitrate (CBS), an antimicrobial drug against Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)-related ulcer.
